About Me…
My love of ceramics began at a young age when I took my first pottery class at a local studio in New York. I continued to be interested in ceramics throughout my school years, and in college at Oberlin. I lived abroad in Seville, Spain and Tokyo, Japan where I also took classes and spent time at local studios, learning new techniques and skills native to each region. After that, I moved to Ireland and enrolled in the Crawford College of Art and Design where I specialised in Ceramics, graduating in 2005.
In 2024, I decided to start experimenting with the idea of ceramic jewellery, inspired by the beauty of the landscape and flora of Ireland. After much testing, trial and feedback, Nicole O’Connor Ceramics was born, focusing on ceramic jewellery. Each piece is handcrafted from coloured porcelain and fitted in sterling silver chain.
My values are imbedded in my work and I strive to improve the sustainability of the process by once firing my pieces, to reduce the environmental impact. I try to source my materials from suppliers in Ireland and the EU.
In addition to my ceramic jewellery, I enjoy making larger scale ceramic vessels in stoneware and paper clay porcelain. More of this work can be seen on the Gallery page and is for sale in exhibitions or by contacting me directly for availability and pricing.
